NatSKA Round 5 - Fulbeck

So, the winter section of the season has finished and we're back racing again! We headed to Fulbeck in Lincolnshire where the weather was very cold - but thankfully dry.

Finding an excellent set-up for the kart early on, that suited Alfie and the track conditions, gave us a great start to the weekend.

Despite being allocated all starting positions from towards the back of the large 25 karts pack, we were able to make excellent progress in each of the four race sessions and had a fantastic meeting!

Hard contact with a kerb in Heat 2 resulted in damage to the left hand side of the rear axle! That gave Alfie a very bumpy ride in Heat 3 as he had to contend with the effects of the buckled axle! Despite everything vibrating in his vision, he still managed to bring his kart home in P13 after starting in P22; even Lewis Hamilton can't make up that ground in his porpoising Mercedes F1 car!

We spent the interval between the next race feverishly replacing the rear axle and setting up the kart again in time for the final race of the day. It worked out well and we again gained a load of positions for the finish.

Overall, the results for the day were very encouraging:

Heat 1 - P22 to P14

Heat 2 - P19 to P10

Heat 3 - P22 to P13

Heat 4 - P19 to P14
